One evening in Amagansett, I stopped at Balsam Farms Stand to gather food for a small dinner with friends. As the sun began to set, something caught my attention. A power line stood among trees that had been cut back, their branches sweeping outward in unexpected, wave-like forms around the rigid lines of the utility poles. What I had originally passed without noticing suddenly felt beautiful. The scene became a study in contrast: the organic movement of the trees against the structure of the power lines, the warmth of the setting sun against the coolness of shadow, nature alongside what we have built. None of these elements seemed particularly remarkable on their own, yet together they created a moment of unexpected harmony... reminding me that the duality of our world can create beauty in unlikely places when we slow down enough to look for it.
