Painted on a reclaimed surfboard, "Between Sea and Shore" brings together two enduring identities of the East End, it's working waters and surf culture. A solitary fishing vessel emerges from a quiet horizon, framed by the familiar shape of an object made to move through the same waters. The reclaimed board becomes more than a surface but carries its own history of the ocean. By placing the image of a working boat within it, the piece connects recreation and livelihood, past and present, and the different ways that generations have built their lives around the sea.
