After settling on the East End of Long Island in 1979, painting took hold of my creative impulses. I was pulled forward by the water, light, and trees of Sag Harbor. Years of figurative landscape work gradually gave way to a personal language of rhythmic, lyrical abstraction: rich layers of oil, complex color relationships, and movement built almost without pause, over many months. Trees, water and clouds, sunsets, emotions and orchestral music, remain my constant and eternal subjects.

Surrounded by the extraordinary landscapes and luminous light of Sag Harbor, a personal language of rhythmic abstraction emerged. Rich layers of oil paint and complex color relationships create works filled with vibrant, dynamic and impassioned energy. Through my paintings and sculpture, I hope viewers will sense the music I hear, the beauty that surrounds me, and a deep love for the natural world on the East End.
