Himalayan Tea is a delicate, monochromatic bouquet of pink chrysanthemums set against a muted, heavily textured background. The texture was created using sand collected from Montauk, a place I return to every year and one that has always held a sense of peace for me. Bringing that sand into the painting allowed a small piece of the East End to become physically embedded in the work.

The soft pink palette, weathered surface, and scraped out line work give the piece a worn, almost vintage quality, like something softened by time. The flowers glow quietly against the textured background, while the transparent vase and pale table keep the composition light and still.

For me, Himalayan Tea holds the same feeling I associate with Montauk. It’s peaceful, familiar, a little weathered in the best ways, and connected to memories that return year after year.
