I have been carving wood and stone sculpture for over 35 years. My practice explores a deep-rooted connection to the natural world and maritime environments. The sea shaped the rhythm of daily life in the small coastal village in East Anglia, England, where I grew up. Traditional wooden boatbuilding and shipwright tools have profoundly influenced my working methods, driving my commitment to manual skill and traditional craft.

For the past 23 years, I have lived and worked in Montauk. Here, a familiar coastal landscape inspires me to create work that possesses an inner life, inviting the viewer into a deeper connection with the natural world.

Through a subtractive carving process using only hand tools, I approach each piece of wood or stone with respect for its individual character. I work intuitively until the form feels right, engaging in a quiet conversation with the material.
